Every corner of our guesthouse has its own story

- and they all start with a love of nature and family comfort. Come take a peek inside ours.

Our family story takes place right here - in the Helena Honesová guesthouse, which we have been building with love for more than twenty years.

In the beginning, we had a simple idea: to create a place where you can stop, breathe and really relax. A place that isn't anonymous like a hotel, but where you feel like you're staying with friends - even if it's your first time.

We opened the guesthouse in 2001. From the very beginning Helena Honesová - our mother, grandmother, founder and the heart of the whole house - has been there. She takes care of the reservations, the preparation of the rooms and the “comfort” that you praise so much.

After a couple of years we, Tereza and Tomáš returned to Helena. At that time we were still living in Č. Budějovice, but after the birth of our little Stelinka we felt that we wanted something different. More peace, nature and most importantly to be home again. And so we returned - to our roots and to our family. Today we all take care of the guesthouse together, three generations under one roof. Tomas is in charge of the work around the house, the website and things that are not visible at first sight. Terka helps with the day-to-day running, cleaning and making sure that you always get a nice reply to your email.

Silence, the smell of flowering meadows and the rustling of the forest

We pride ourselves on making it “like home”. We sincerely believe that true relaxation is about silence, clean air, the smell of the forest and a glass of good wine or hot tea after a hike.

Pension Helena Honesová is located in Horská Kvilda, off the main road, overlooking the valley. When you open the window, you can't hear the cars - just the wind and the sound of the forest. This is the true Sumava comfort for us.

“This photo shows the old Hones boarding house where my dad, mom, and I and my whole family worked for many years. We cleaned rooms, cooked, served guests - from morning to night, day after day. Even the hard times showed us how strong our bond was - to the place, to our work and to each other. Thank you especially to my dad and mom for their hard work, humility and perseverance. It was because of these experiences and the work they did that I was later able to fulfill my dream of building my own guesthouse.”

Basics

In the summer of 1999 it all started. The ground was dug and the foundations were laid.

Rough construction

The pension grew and so did our expectations. By the autumn of 1999, the house was already taking shape. On November 2, the windows were installed and on November 3, snow fell.

Completion of construction

We're done. We moved into the house in the late summer of 2000. Not everything was perfect yet, the grass was barely growing around us, but the feeling of home was present from day one. The first guests arrived when the guesthouse opened in 2001 - and that was the beginning of a new story...

A winter to remember

In 2005 nature gave us a great snowfall. There was almost 1.5 meters of snow and it was practically impossible to walk outside the groomed roads.

Starting to build a place for summer comfort

After the extreme winter of 2005 we started to build an outdoor fireplace with a smokehouse and a gazebo. Back then it was just a pile of bricks, rocks and a lot of work ahead of us.
